This is the final work of the series and shows an evolution towards a more simplified, abstract style. the female peasant’s face emerges from the branches that she has gathereed for the day. The abstraction of the piece can be seen in the selection of a monochromatic palette and the inclusion of only the necessary details needed to capture the essence of the female peasant. The tonal variations and the free, multiple brush strokes give the painting its distinctive sense of vitality and movement.
