The title of this piece was deliberately chosen to convey both the literal and allegorical meaning with this work. The young monk stands deep in thought, holding a dove, whilst the mirrored wall behind him reflects back fragmented images. The monk, a Buddhist, is looking at the dove, the Christian symbol of peace. Perhaps this painting is a contemplation on peace and universal acceptance of all religions. The existence of the young monk is simple and peaceful. The dove symbolises this, and the mirror reflects this life.
